Why the Telephone Wires Dip and the Poles Are Cracked and Crooked
The old men say
young men in gray
hung this thread across our plains
acres and acres ago.
But we, the enlightened, know
in point of fact it's what remains
of the flight of a marvellous crow
no one saw:
Each pole, a caw.
(Like with crows, important connections between humans -- "telephone wires" -- can sometimes paradoxically arise from the work of fairly selfishly-motivated but inventive individuals -- e.g. Bell, Edison, Tesla, etc. etc.)
Hola , Explendida Entrevista.
oh i am picking this book up asap
What a great interview - funny and profound with crows. Now must get the book.
(By coincidence, corvids featured in my debut novel too).
Wonderful!!! -- looking forward to reading what looks to be a excellent novel!!!
On the fun theme of crows absconding with eyes, as on the cover, there's this cute video from David Firth from last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eeQGRQ-dXc
However, in defense of crows: on John Updike's gravestone in Plowville, PA:

there's the following poem from his very first published book (1958) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Carpentered_Hen_and_Other_Tame_Creatures :
